Facts About Dried White Mulberries
Mulberry harvest starts in July, that’s when the white mulberry trees, also known as Morus Alba, are shaken to encourage fresh mulberries to fall from their branches. The ripe fruit is collected in soft nets and sundried the natural way, out under the Mediterranean sun.
Finally, these mulberries are transformed into a perfect, crunchy treat that can be enjoyed anywhere.
Let’s take a look at some of the facts:
Mulberries have a mild, sweet flavor that is similar in taste to a dried goji berry or fig. Since these berries are dried, they can have a slightly crunchy texture.
Color differences in mulberries shows contrast in moisture levels and nutrients, except Morus Nigra (black mulberries) all white, creamy, brown, and dark mulberries come from the same variety (Morus Alba).
Why is the color different? Because when the humidity gets high, the color of the berries gets darker. And this also increases the sweet taste and the nutrition level.
Munch straight out of the bag, or add them to cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, salad, trail mix, or your other favorite foods.
For a softer texture, dried mulberries can be soaked in water and added to smoothies, juices, or baked goods. They also pair well with other super fruits like goji berries, gooseberries, and blueberries.
